Rusty Pipes Interface

Rusty Pipes is a digital organ instrument compatible with GrandOrgue and Hauptwerk sample sets. It features both graphical and text-based user interface, can be controlled via MIDI and play back MIDI files.

Features

GrandOrgue Sample Set support
Compatible with ODF file formats, allowing you to play popular free and paid organ sample sets. Note: WavPack is not supported yet.
Hauptwerk Sample Set support (Beta)
Load and play unencrypted Hauptwerk XML sample definitions directly. Play both your GrandOrgue and Hauptwerk organs in one program!
High Performance & Stable thanks to Rust
Rust brings memory- and thread-safety without compromising performance.
Ultra Low Latency sample streaming
An innovative pre-loading feature allows streaming very large sample sets (60GB or more) while only using a few GB of RAM, without introducing latency! For PCs without SSDs, regular RAM preloading is available too.
Extremely low memory requirements
Rusty Pipes streams samples from SSD instead of loading everything into RAM. This speeds up startup time and allows running on memory-constrained computers.
Polyphony limited only by CPU power
Rusty Pipes is fully multithreaded and uses SIMD to utilize all the computing power of your PC to play more pipes simultaneously. A unique voice stealing method allows limiting polyphony without completely "dropping" notes.
Multi-Device MIDI Support & Channel Mapping
Whether you use a single MIDI interface with many connected devices, or multiple MIDI interfaces, Rusty Pipes features completely configurable MIDI channel routing as well as MIDI control of organ stops.
Tremulant and Convolution Reverb
A built-in high-quality convolution reverb engine simulates cathedral acoustics. Load up your own Impulse Response (IR) WAV files to recreate your favorite acoustic environment.
MIDI & Audio recording of performances
With one click, your performance is recorded directly to a WAV file or saved as MIDI data for later editing.
MIDI-learning for stop control
Click any organ stop on the GUI and toggle a physical switch to instantly link them. Perfect for console builders. This data is saved and restored separately for each Organ sample set you use.
Web, GUI and Text Mode (TUI) interfaces
From desktop PC to headless operation on a Raspberry Pi, we got you covered. Use the text based TUI mode and your tablet or phone's web browser for maximum performance.
REST API for remote consoles
Control your organ via the built-in REST API. Perfect for DIY console builders who want to directly control stops, audio settings, etc. using ESP32 or similar microcontrollers without having to go through MIDI.
ASIO and JACK support
Enjoy high quality low-latency audio output with ASIO on Windows and JACK/Pipewire on Linux.
Hauptwerk LCD support
Use your existing Hauptwerk-compatible console displays to show realtime status information while playing.
